Many useful tools do not exist because nobody has asked for them clearly. The CESXY Wishes board is a moderated board where you can describe a small tool you need and others can add their support. This article explains what makes a good wish, which wishes get built, what a wish is not and how moderation works.
What a good wish looks like
Describe the problem, not only the solution. Start with your situation. I plan meals each week for a family with three different diets and spend an hour every Sunday checking recipes gives a builder far more to work with than an AI meal app. A builder who understands the problem may find a better answer than the one you first pictured.
Name the core action. Say the one task you want the tool to do. For example: enter the diets once, then paste any recipe and see who can eat it. Small, well-defined wishes are much easier to build than broad ones.
Give practical requirements. Say whether you need it on a phone, whether it should work without an account and which language it needs.
Leave out personal information. Do not include names, addresses, health details or other private details about yourself or anyone else. We remove personal details before a wish is published, but it is safer not to include them at all.
Choose a category. Every wish sits in one of our 16 fixed categories.
Which wishes get built
The board runs on one published rule.
The week's #1 wish gets built, and any wish reaching 1,000 supporters gets built immediately.
Builders can also respond to any open wish. Each wish page has a Build this button that takes a builder to the Submit form with the wish attached. A project built from a wish goes through the same review as any other submission.
We do not promise a date for when a built wish will be finished.
What a wish is not
It is not crowdfunding. Supporting a wish costs nothing, and no money is collected on the basis of a wish.
It is not a purchase or a promise of a product. Supporting a wish does not entitle anyone to a particular product, feature or date.
It is not a commission. A wish is a public request, not a private contract with a builder.
It is not a support channel. Problems with an existing project belong on that project's page, through Report a problem.
Participants may receive benefits. Details and final interpretation rest with CESXY.
How moderation works
Every wish is reviewed before it appears on the board, and personal details are removed before publication.
We may edit or decline a wish that contains personal or private information, asks for a tool meant to harass, deceive, track or harm people, repeats a wish already on the board, is spam or advertising, or tries to game support. Wishes in sensitive areas, such as health, money and children, get a closer look.
Support should reflect real interest. Our Community Guidelines prohibit spam and manipulation, and attempts to inflate support can lead to removal.
Making your first wish
Look through the Wishes board first. If someone has already asked for what you need, choose I want this too on that wish. If not, open Make a wish, describe your problem, the core action and your practical requirements, pick a category and remove anything personal. Then submit it for review.
The board is new. The first wishes on it were written by CESXY editors from everyday problems, and every supporter count started at zero.
