Practise the conversation before my first lesson
Language apps teach vocabulary in a fixed order that rarely matches the conversation you are nervous about this week. Phrasebooks give you the lines but no practice saying them or hearing replies. Some learners use general chat tools but find they drift off topic or correct too much at once. Many people simply avoid the conversation and point at things.
